As some of you may have seen on my Instagram, I have FINALLY put together a real live studio/office/craft room. And I thought... new space, new blog.... might as well make it my first "real" post, too!
So let's back up. For the past (long) while, my "studio" has been a mix of three key areas:
1. a desk in the basement (in a corner, surrounded by half-packed boxes of stuff)
2. my dining room table (which I have to clean off every time I want to eat)
3. on the couch (with a SUPER sweet table, actually- which I suggest everyone buys if they like sitting on the couch and lettering, like I do... find it here. OMG it's on sale. Crap... I paid way more than that).
Here are some photos of what my space USED to look like- a total disaster, always.
Then, over this past weekend, I moved. And since crafting is far more important than sleeping, I turned a bedroom into a studio. Except that sounds much easier than it was.
First, I drew myself a floor plan... as any person with a background in design would. I can't move furniture without laying it out on paper, first. No matter how small the space!
When I moved in, the room was... interesting. It had furniture, curtains and carpeting from the 60's! I didn't take a photo, but I wish I had. Anyway, my super helpful and ridiculously good-looking boyfriend (ya, now I have to suck up) helped me take the curtains down and get all of the furniture out. And THEN I took a couple photos.
Then, he helped me rip out the carpet. And scrub the floors. And scrub all the walls. And put up my new curtains. And move in all of my new furniture. And, lastly, carry up my ridiculous amount of craft supplies. (Seriously, he's the best).
Here's a halfway photo.
By this point I started to realize how much of a craft-supply-shopping-addiction I have... because I could hardly even get IN the room to organize it.
Anyway I finally did get it organized. Let's just say I do not ever want to leave this room. I also want to say, that I did this TOTALLY on a budget. The storage shelves in the back are from Michaels, but I bought the whole set of them used off another girl. The desk is HUGE and beautiful, and it's from IKEA, but again, I bought it used! When you spend as much money as I do on actual SUPPLIES, you gotta at least be smart about the rest of it!
So that's it for now! What do you guys think? Leave me a comment, I love hearing from you!
